What you'll do
Design, implement, and optimize user interfaces for embedded systems, focusing on performance and user experience.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define and refine UI requirements and specifications.
Develop and maintain code for embedded applications using C/C++ and other relevant programming languages.
Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers to ensure high-quality code and adherence to best practices.
Troubleshoot and debug issues related to UI performance and functionality, ensuring a smooth user experience across various devices.




Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in UI development and embedded systems to continuously improve our products.
Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to ensure timely delivery of features.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for code, processes, and user interfaces to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding.
Work closely with QA teams to develop and execute testing strategies, ensuring that all UI components meet quality standards before deployment.
Mentor junior engineers and interns, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
Engage in cross-team collaborations to align on product vision and technical direction, contributing to the overall success of Roku's offerings.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and tools, promoting efficiency and innovation within the team.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in software development, with a focus on embedded systems or UI development.
Proficiency in C/C++ programming languages, with a strong understanding of software design principles and best practices.




Experience with UI frameworks and libraries relevant to embedded systems, such as Qt or similar technologies.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in a collaborative team workplace.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues effectively.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
Experience with other programming languages such as Python or JavaScript.
Knowledge of streaming technologies and protocols, particularly in the context of media applications.
Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
Previous experience in the consumer electronics or entertainment industry is a plus.
Understanding of user-centered design principles and experience working with UX/UI designers.
