The Principal Adviserworks independently as part of asmallteamresponsible for a range of matters relatedtothe department'sdisability sector relationships and system strategy,and legacy responsibilities. The Principal Adviser willplay a key role inmaintainingthe department'srelationships with sector partners, engagingwithinternal andexternaldisabilitysector stakeholdersto understandand respond tocurrent and future issues,and willbuildsector relationshipsbyestablishinga Community of Practice.
The Principal Adviser will play a key role in the department's national disability system strategy and policy, working in close consultation with other lead teams in DRCN on market issues and reform. A solid understanding of community service systems and strategy will be important, as well as experience in system reform and expertise in intergovernmental strategy and negotiation.
The Principal Adviser will use highly developed written, policy, stakeholder and systems thinking skills to develop government policy.



The Principal Adviser will also work closely with the managers to support legacy disability programs and enquiries.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
Plan andfacilitatea community ofpracticetoengage with the sector on issues relevant totheportfolio andto support Victorian government responsesonCommonwealth policy reform.
Provide strategic leadership on market and system issues and lead and contribute to intergovernmental strategy and policy on these issues.
Support management of legacy disability programs and enquiries.
Requirements
Applicants are required to submit a CV and Cover Letter (max 2 pages) outlining their suitability to the role in line with the Key Selection Criteria.
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
