SA1NT Layers is our performance division — engineered compression, run, gym and training apparel developed with sports scientists and proven on elite athletes. Our compression is the lightest and most powerful we have ever engineered, with performance claims that are measured, tested and earned — never boasted.
Now we're opening our first flagship Layers retail store in Hawthorn, and we're looking for the person who will bring it to life.
The Role
As Store Manager, you are the face of SA1NT Layers in the community and the standard-setter for everything that happens on the floor. This is a foundation role — you'll shape the culture, the customer experience and the commercial performance of our first flagship, with a genuine pathway to multi-store leadership as our retail footprint grows.
You will:
Lead the environment.
Set a positive, energetic, performance-minded retail culture. Our customers are runners, lifters, athletes and everyday improvers — the store should feel like it belongs to them.
Deliver a premium experience.
Operate the store to high-end retail standards: impeccable visual merchandising, expert product fitting and advice, and a customer experience that reflects a science-led performance brand.
Own the numbers.
Take responsibility for sales targets, KPIs, rostering and labour costs, stock integrity and day-to-day P&L; performance, reporting directly to head office in Fitzroy.
Build the community.
Drive local business development — partnerships with run clubs, gyms, physios and allied health, sporting clubs and community events across Hawthorn and Melbourne's inner east. You'll represent the brand at activations and build the relationships that make the flagship a local institution.

Recruit,



train and develop retail staff who can speak credibly about compression science, fabric technology and product fit — and who genuinely care about the customer's performance and recovery.

As additional stores open, demonstrate the leadership to step into multi-site or area management.
Who You Are
Proven retail leadership
— 3+ years managing a premium, high-end or performance retail store, ideally in sportswear, activewear, footwear or a comparable considered-purchase category.
Commercially sharp
— comfortable owning budgets, targets, rosters, inventory and reporting; experienced with modern POS and inventory systems. Shopify experience useful.
A genuine connection to sport and training
— you run, train, play or compete, and you can talk performance apparel with authority because you live it.
A community builder
— experience in local area marketing, event activation, club partnerships or grassroots brand building is highly regarded.
A people developer
— you've recruited, trained and retained high-performing retail teams, and you lead from the floor.
Standards-obsessed
— visual merchandising, store presentation, OH&S; and loss prevention are second nature.
Growth-minded
— ambitious to build something from day one and take on more as the retail network expands.
Bonus points for
Experience opening a recent store or flagship from the ground up
Clienteling / CRM experience and omnichannel retail (click & collect, endless aisle)
A background in exercise science, coaching, personal training or allied health
Existing networks in Melbourne's running, gym or sporting communities
