About the Role
As the Safer Community Intake Officer, you will be the first point of contact for students, staff and external stakeholders seeking support or reporting concerning, inappropriate or threatening behaviour. Working within the Safer Community team, you will manage referrals and enquiries, undertake initial risk screening and triage, and provide timely, trauma-informed responses to complex and sensitive situations. Through professional judgement, structured intake processes and stakeholder collaboration, you will help ensure individuals are connected with the right support services while contributing to a safe, respectful and inclusive university community.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
Experience in a frontline intake, triage or client-facing administrative role
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with individuals experiencing distress
Demonstrated ability to provide clear, accurate information and advice
Ability to apply structured decision‐making processes, including initial risk screening and escalation
High-level record‐keeping skills, with attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality
Understanding of gender‐based violence, family violence or behavioural risk contexts

Qualifications
A relevant tertiary qualification (or progress towards one) in community services, social sciences, social work, counselling,



psychology or related fields.
