Skytraders is seeking applications for a
Ground Handler
to work in our Essendon and on occasion Tullamarine based maintenance facilities.
Skytraders Engineering maintains a diverse fleet of fixed wing Class A and Class B aircraft, operating from both Essendon and Tullamarine airports.
The ideal candidate will hold relevant industry skills, will be passionate about the aviation industry, and will be able to demonstrate a commitment to the highest standards of safety and quality. No experience is necessary as training will be provided.
It is a casual position, approximately 20 to 30 hours a week and mostly night shift. You will be required to either dispatch or receive the aircraft and assist the pilot in preparing or finalizing all required duties before or at the end of the shift. Your primary role will be based at Essendon Airport, where you will form part of an engineering team dedicated to the operational support of a long-term state government special missions' contract. From time to time, the company may require you to operate from the Tullamarine facility or elsewhere to support other Skytraders activities.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting the daily operations of Special Missions aircraft
Reporting to the Senior Base Engineer on matters relating to the ground handling and airworthiness of the aircraft.
Ensuring aircraft ground handling is carried out in accordance with Skytraders procedures, including aircraft towing,



aircraft loading/unloading and maneuvering of support equipment.
Support operational logistics and supply chain activities as directed by the Senior Base Engineer.
Maintain the hangar facilities and ground support equipment.
Carry out supervised maintenance activities within the scope of qualification and experience.
Other duties as requested by the Senior Base Engineer.
Promoting Occupational Health & Safety, DAMP awareness and the Skytraders Safety Management System.
Desired Skills and Experience
Must have a valid driver's license.
Australian residency
Prior experience and qualification in aircraft towing and marshalling (desirable)
Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (desirable) or demonstrated aptitude in engineering field.
High level of computing and communication skills
Positive attitude with the ability to work proactively within a team.

The ability to demonstrate full compliance with all relevant work rules and regulation.
Successful candidates will be subject to a Police Background check and employment will be conditional on passing and maintaining security and DAMP compliance.
