Lead the future of youth mental health in Victoria as Clinical Director at Victoria's first standalone public Youth Mental Health Service.
Provide clinical, professional and strategic leadership across Community and Enhanced Care services
Provide service wide leadership of the Medical Workforce portfolio, including recruitment, credentialing, workforce planning, supervision and Doctors in Training
Combine leadership and a Consultant Psychiatrist role.
The Opportunity
As Clinical Director - Community and Enhanced Care, you will join Victoria's first standalone public Youth Mental Health Service in a pivotal senior medical leadership role. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, you will provide clinical, professional and strategic leadership across Community and Enhanced Care services, working in partnership with executive and multidisciplinary leaders to deliver high-quality, developmentally appropriate, culturally safe and evidence-informed care for young people and their families, carers, supporters and kin.
Beyond stream leadership, you will provide organisation-wide leadership of the Medical Workforce portfolio, overseeing senior medical workforce recruitment, credentialing, workforce planning, supervision, Doctors in Training and succession planning. You will also contribute to clinical governance, accreditation, research translation, service innovation and continuous improvement, helping shape the future of youth mental health care in Victoria.
This unique role also offers the opportunity to maintain clinical practice through a 0.5 FTE Consultant Psychiatrist position, leading a multidisciplinary team providing care to young people aged ***** and their families.
What You'll do:
Clinical and Strategic Leadership
Provide strategic, clinical and professional leadership across Community and Enhanced Care services.
Partner with executive and multidisciplinary leaders to shape service delivery and models of care.
Lead the delivery of safe, evidence-informed, trauma informed, developmentally appropriate and person-centred care.
Medical Workforce Leadership
Provide senior medical oversight of the PYHMWS Medical Workforce Unit.
Oversee recruitment, credentialling, onboarding, professional support and retention strategies for Senior Medical Staff at PYHMWS.
Build a sustainable high performing medical workforce.
Quality, Safety and Governance
Lead clinical governance, quality improvement, service innovation and accreditation activities.
Provide senior medical oversight of complex clinical, medicolegal and organisational risks.
Champion continuous improvement and evidence informed practice. 4
Clinical Practice
Lead a multidisciplinary team delivering care to young people aged ***** and their families.
What You'll Bring
Qualifications
Registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent.
Skills
Demonstrated senior clinical leadership experience in youth mental health and acute, admitted or forensic mental health settings.
Proven ability to lead inclusive, multidisciplinary teams.
High level communication, conflict resolution and stakeholder engagement skills including the ability to manage complex clinical, workforce and organisational issues.
Sound knowledge of clinical governance, quality improvement systems, risk management, accreditation standards, medicolegal obligations and the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act **** (Vic).
Knowledge of relevant guidelines, plans and strategies related to the mental health service system (E.g. Victorian Mental Health Reform Strategy, National Standards for Mental Health Services, etc).
A commitment to delivering evidence-informed, developmentally appropriate, culturally safe and person-centred care for young people and their families.
