About the organisation
Warlga Ngurra incorporated, is an Aboriginal Organisation focused on delivering service to women, children and families with or without accompanying children, who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, fleeing family and domestic violence, or are needing early intervention family supports.
Their services include emergency crisis accommodation, court support, domestic violence support, parenting programs, children's activities, outreach support, advocacy, housing support, child support and referrals.
About the role
Warlga Ngurra is seeking a compassionate and resilient Refuge Caseworker to provide trauma-informed support to Aboriginal women and children residing within the refuge. Working within crisis accommodation setting, you will play a key role in supporting clients through periods of crisis, promoting safety, wellbeing and self-determination while helping them work towards positive long-term outcomes.
Key Responsibilities will include:
Providing trauma-informed intensive case management, including intake, risk assessment, case planning and referrals
Supporting women and children in crisis accommodation with practical and emotional support
Developing safety plans and assisting clients to access appropriate housing, legal, health and community services
Maintaining accurate client records and documentation using the Client Information Management System (CIMS)
Creating a safe, welcoming and supportive refuge environment
Building strong relationships with external agencies to ensure coordinated support for clients
Participating in the on-call roster and contributing to the smooth operation of the refuge
About you
To be successful in this role, you'll be a compassionate, adaptable and resilient professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will have experience supporting vulnerable clients and be committed to delivering culturally responsive, client-centred services.
Demonstrated case management experience, and desirable to have experience within domestic and family violence/homelessness contexts.
Strong knowledge of child protection, trauma, mental health, AOD, and legal issues impacting families.
Commitment to strengths-based, feminist, trauma-informed, and culturally protected practice.
A tertiary qualification in Community Services, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
Current NSW Driver's Licence, National Police Check, Working with Children Check, and First Aid certificate.
