About Merri Creek Management Committee (MCMC)
MCMC is a proud community-based organisation, supported by the community, our local government members, and Melbourne Water. Our purpose is to lead, in partnership, the preservation of the natural heritage, ecological restoration and repair, and community stewardship, and support the preservation of cultural heritage of the Merri Creek and tributaries, their corridors and associated ecological communities. About the role
Temporary part-time: 0.8 FTE (28 hours per week)
Location: MCMC office at 2 Lee Street, Brunswick East (hybrid work from home is available)
As Manager Catchment Education and Engagement, you will set the strategic direction for MCMC's catchment education and engagement program. You'll guide the catchment team to design, deliver, and evaluate programs for schools, teachers, adult learners, community groups, and corporate clients. You'll foster partnerships across education, cultural, health and wellbeing, and environment sectors.
This is a key role within the MCMC Management Team – joining our CEO, Manager Operations, and Manager Ecological Restoration.
About you
Passionate about the environment and community-focused organisations
Experience in small organisations, ideally not-for-profits




Strong communication skills; experienced in delivering high quality education and engagement programs
Willingness to be hands‐on, adaptable, and an effective team leader

Key Selection Criteria (abbreviated):
Relevant degree and five years' experience in a similar role
Demonstrated team leadership and people management skills
Experience in designing and delivering education and engagement programs
Strong project and program management, including budgets and reporting
Business development experience and the ability to prepare funding submissions
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
Solid client service focus
Personal commitment to environmental protection
Experience with environmental or social justice not‐for‐profits
Knowledge of the Merri Creek and environs
CRM, CMS, and digital content skills
Understanding of cultural heritage and Traditional Owners' relationship to Country
