About CICA The Crane Industry Council of Australia (CICA) is the national peak body for the Australian crane industry. CICA works with government, regulators, training organisations and industry to support safe crane operations, consistent training standards, and workforce competency across Australia.
The Crane Crew Competency Officer
plays a central role in developing, delivering and continually enhancing CICA's national crane crew competency programs. The position ensures all training, assessment and competency materials remain current and fully aligned with Australian Standards, regulatory requirements and contemporary industry practices.
Working collaboratively with crane companies, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), regulators and training organisations, the role contributes to the design of supplementary training programs, assessment tools and Verification of Competency (VOC) criteria. It also represents CICA in high‐level regulatory and industry forums, requiring strong professional judgement, polished corporate conduct and well‐developed technical expertise.
Operationally, the Officer oversees day‐to‐day program delivery, coordinates projects, maintains documentation and reporting,



and responds to technical enquiries. Through this work, the role supports consistent competency standards and contributes to improved safety outcomes across the Australian crane industry.

Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (preferred)
HRWL industry experience (crane operation, dogging, rigging)
Experience developing training/assessment materials
Ability to create and test digital testing criteria
Crane industry or related sector experience
Solid understanding of regulations and safety frameworks
High computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
Clear communication and strong organisational skills
Experience engaging with senior regulatory stakeholders
Capabilities & Attributes

Sound judgement and practical problem‐solving
Professional conduct when representing CICA
