Our Media and PR team brings the Gold Coast's story to life through strategic media engagement, public relations and storytelling, to showcase the destination and its world-class experiences, events, festivals and cultural offerings.
About the Role
We're looking for a passionate and skilled
Media & PR Coordinator
to join our Destination & Engagement team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Reporting to the Media and PR Manager, you will support the delivery of EGC's media and PR strategy, generating positive exposure for the Gold Coast and promoting our portfolio of owned festivals including
Blues on Broadbeach, Cooly Rocks On, BLEACH Festival and Groundwater Country Music Festival
.
Working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders, you'll build media relationships, develop compelling stories, coordinate media opportunities and create engaging content that positions the Gold Coast as a must-visit destination.
This is an exciting opportunity for a creative media and PR professional who enjoys storytelling, relationship building and working in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do
Build and maintain strong relationships with local, national and New Zealand journalists, media outlets and key stakeholders across television, radio, print and online channels.
Research, develop and pitch compelling story ideas, media releases and communications materials to generate positive media coverage for Experience Gold Coast and its festivals.
Support the delivery of proactive media plans and PR campaigns for EGC's owned festivals, including Blues on Broadbeach, Cooly Rocks On, BLEACH Festival and Groundwater Country Music Festival.
Coordinate media opportunities including interviews, media calls, photo opportunities, filming requirements and executive or spokesperson appearances.
Develop and maintain targeted media databases, content calendars and media resources to support campaign activity.
Create engaging written and visual content for media, digital platforms, websites and other communication channels.
Support media enquiries, monitor coverage, maintain media clippings and contribute to reporting on media mentions, reach and sentiment.
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging and maximise media opportunities.
Assist with administration tasks as required.
Attend industry events, networking opportunities and key launches or festivals as required to support EGC's reputation and profile.
What You'll Bring
Qualifications in Media, Public Relations, Communications or a related discipline, or demonstrated experience relevant to the role.
2+ years experience working in media or public relations, with proven success in media relations, story pitching and securing coverage across traditional and digital channels.
A background in music and/or music festival publicity highly regarded.
Experience working in a media team within the music or the arts sectors preferred.
Robust storytelling, with the ability to develop compelling media releases and communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, media and external stakeholders.
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate multiple projects and deliver quality outcomes within deadlines.
Strong attention to detail, record keeping skills and experience managing databases, with proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
A creative, proactive and adaptable approach, with a genuine passion for the Gold Coast and promoting its unique experiences and offerings.
