We're seeking an experienced Policy Officer to join a collaborative government project team delivering high-impact environmental policy initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for a policy professional who enjoys working on complex issues, engaging diverse stakeholders, and developing high-quality guidance and policy materials that influence decision-making at both Executive and national levels.
This contract role will play a key part in supporting the development of a national guideline for the safe management of lithium-ion batteries at end of life, contributing to better environmental outcomes across Australia. It is a contract role through to end of December.
Key Responsibilities
Develop high-quality policy papers, guidance documents, briefing materials and communication resources for Executive and external audiences.
Support the delivery of complex policy and regulatory projects, ensuring milestones and outcomes are achieved within agreed timeframes.
Research, analyse and interpret legislation, policy and evidence to provide practical recommendations.




Engage with government agencies, industry, community organisations and other stakeholders to build effective partnerships.
Contribute to communication and engagement activities supporting policy implementation.
Prepare reports, project documentation and advice for senior decision-makers.
You'll bring
Demonstrated experience developing policy, regulatory guidance or strategic projects within government or a similarly complex workplace.
Exceptional written communication skills with experience producing Executive briefs, policy papers, guidance documents and stakeholder communications.
Qualifications in public policy, environmental science, law, planning, economics or a related discipline.
Experience in environmental policy, waste management, contaminated land or regulatory policy.
Knowledge of Victorian Government policy development processes or environmental regulation.
