Designcase is seeking an experienced
Glazier-Museum Showcase Assembler
to join our team on a
full-time basis
in Canberra, ACT. This is a specialised role that combines traditional glazing expertise with precision assembly work for museum and exhibition showcases. You will be responsible for creating and installing high-quality glass display cases that meet the exacting standards of museums and cultural institutions. This position is crucial to our reputation for excellence in bespoke glazing and museum display solutions.
Key responsibilities
Assembling glass panels, frames and structural components to create custom museum showcases and display cabinets
Machining and fabrication of bespoke museum showcase framework in aluminum and steel.
Installing glazed museum showcases and exhibition displays in heritage and cultural venues, ensuring secure and aesthetically pleasing results.
Fitting specialist hardware, seals and locking mechanisms to museum display cases to meet security and preservation standards.
Custom joinery fabrication and assembly as part of showcase manufacture.
Conducting quality inspections throughout the assembly and installation process to ensure all work meets stringent standards
Maintaining safe working practices and adhering to health and safety regulations on site and in the workshop
Liaising with clients to understand requirements and provide solutions for museum glazing projects
What we're looking for
Formal qualification or extensive practical experience as a Glazier, with demonstrable expertise in glass cutting, shaping and installation
Proven experience in assembling and installing exhibition showcases or similar precision glazing projects
Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and detailed specifications accurately
Proficiency in using hand tools,
power tools and specialist glazing equipment safely and effectively
Knowledge of glass types, properties and treatments relevant to museum and heritage applications, including UV-protective and conservation-grade glazing
Excellent spatial awareness, attention to detail and precision in measurement and assembly
Sound understanding of structural principles, load-bearing requirements and safety standards for display installations
The ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing time effectively to meet project deadlines
Physical fitness and ability to handle heavy materials safely and work at heights where necessary
Current driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites as required
