The First Nations Local Area Coordinator role aim toconnect First Nations peoples to the NDIS and relevant community supports,enhancing participation and outcomes for individuals and communities.
About The Role:
First Nations Local Area Coordinators focus on facilitatingcommunity engagement, raising awareness of the National Disability InsuranceScheme and improving understanding of inclusion of people with disabilitywithin local communities.One the primary goals is to ensureFirst Nations people with disability, their families, carers and communitieshave improved connections to relevant disability specific and other supports inthe community while being committed to Carers Queensland's workforce to enablesupport & development of the cultural capability to understand and respondeffectively to the cultural needs of First Nations people.
Some of the Key Duties:
Capacity Building and Community Connection
Enhance the capacity ofindividuals with disabilities, their families, and carers to engage withand contribute positively to their communities, fostering inclusiveparticipation.
Cultural Understanding and Resource Identification
Support CarersQueensland in identifying resources and experiences that deepen ourorganisation's understanding of First Nations cultures, histories,knowledge, and perspectives.
Strategic Partnerships and Stakeholder Relationships
Identify,
facilitate,and maintain key partnerships and stakeholder relationships within FirstNations communities that align with the priorities of CarersQueensland.
Community Development and Inclusion
Actively facilitatepositive partnerships between individuals, families, carers, localorganisations, and the broader community to enhance inclusivity andaccessibility.
Community Impact: Workdirectly with First Nations communities to support individuals withdisability to connect to the NDIS.
A full-time role (until30 June ****) with work from home days available (up to 2 days per weekonce past probation, depending on operational need) at our Lutwyche site.
Attractive RemunerationPackage ofCSW 5.1 -$105,****** per annum +superannuation 12%.
