The Child Development Service teams provide a family-centred, specialist public health service for children who have complex developmental and behavioural concerns.
The teams provide multidisciplinary clinical services and consultancy/advice to support a comprehensive understanding of the child's developmental profile and how this relates to their functioning and participation in everyday life.
Teams use a strengths-based, partnership approach to enable families, key stakeholders and community providers to best support the child's optimal development, health and wellbeing across the life course.
The TOTs Allied Health team functions within the Child Development Service South Service Area and is contracted to provide services as part of Brisbane South Primary Health Network's (BSPHN) Early Years Initiative.
The TOTs project aims to increase the number of children accessing a child development check in order to improve early identification of developmental delays and access to appropriate developmental support before school.
About the Role
Brisbane South Primary Health Network's (BSPHN) Early Years Initiative, Thriving and On Track (TOTs) aims to increase the number of children accessing a child development check in order to improve early identification of developmental delays and access to appropriate developmental support before school.
As part of this initiative, an allied health service aims to:
Build capacity of educators within Early Childhood Education Centres (ECEC's) to both support the development of children in their ECEC, and to support families to access appropriate intervention services when required.
The position of Senior Speech Pathologist / Senior Occupational Therapist will lead and provide capacity building opportunities for educators within ECEC's around developmental concerns identified within their centre.
NOTE: This position does not have a role in the delivery of direct clinical services to individuals or groups of children; rather it is a health promotion/ capacity building focused role.
