What you'll do
Stay updated on legislative and policy developments, evaluating their implications for Adyen's operations.
Act as a representative for the regulatory team in various projects, shaping the regulatory strategy to align with business objectives.
Ensure that all regulatory requirements are effectively implemented for Adyen's activities in Australia and New Zealand.
Provide expert legal and regulatory advice to internal teams regarding engagement strategies and product launches in the region.
Manage both routine and specialized regulatory requests and submissions pertinent to Australia and Current Zealand.
Offer guidance on regulatory matters involving merchants, service providers, and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment with Adyen's commercial goals and scalability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, fostering a culture of compliance within the organization.
Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies and industry associations to stay ahead of regulatory trends and changes.
Conduct training sessions for internal teams to enhance their understanding of regulatory requirements and best practices.
Prepare reports and presentations for senior management regarding regulatory developments and their potential impact on the business.
Participate in strategic planning sessions to identify potential regulatory challenges and opportunities for the business.
Engage in proactive risk management by identifying and mitigating regulatory risks associated with new business initiatives.
Requirements
Must be a qualified lawyer in Australia with an unrestricted practicing certificate.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly.
Robust research skills and proficiency in statutory interpretation, complemented by excellent organizational capabilities.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret policy issues effectively.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a regulatory or legal role, preferably within the financial services sector.
Familiarity with the payments industry, retail banking, and finance is highly desirable.
A strategic thinker with innovative problem-solving abilities and a critical approach to challenges.
Self-motivated, independent,
and capable of taking ownership of tasks to support a rapidly growing business.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities.
Nice to have
Experience working in a fintech or payments-related organization.
Knowledge of international regulatory frameworks and their implications for local operations.
Previous involvement in compliance or risk management roles.
Familiarity with digital payment systems and emerging technologies in the financial sector.
Multilingual abilities, particularly in languages relevant to the APAC region.
