The Contract Administrator plays a critical role in the successful commercial delivery of construction projects. Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Consultants and Subcontractors, the Contract Administrator is responsible for managing procurement, contract administration, financial controls, project reporting, and subcontractor performance throughout the project lifecycle.
The role requires strong commercial acumen, attention to detail, contract management expertise, and the ability to build effective relationships across project stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Manage head contract obligations and ensure contractual compliance.
Track and administer contract variations, extensions of time, claims and notices.
Monitor contractual risks and identify opportunities to improve commercial outcomes.
Ensure all contract documentation is accurate, complete and maintained in accordance with company procedures.

Key Responsibilities Contract Administration
Prepare, review, negotiate and administer subcontract agreements.
Manage head contract obligations and ensure contractual compliance.

Ensure all contract documentation is accurate, complete and maintained in accordance with company procedures.
Procurement & Subcontractor Management
Coordinate tender packages and procurement processes.
Assess subcontractor submissions and prepare tender recommendations.
Manage subcontractor onboarding and contractual requirements.
Monitor subcontractor performance and contractual compliance.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
Cost Management
Prepare project budgets and cost forecasts.
Monitor project expenditure against budget.
Review and approve subcontractor progress claims.
Assess and manage project variations.
Prepare monthly cost reports and cashflow forecasts.
Identify and manage commercial risks impacting project profitability.
Project Support
Work collaboratively with project teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
Assist in programming and planning activities where required.
Support project managers in achieving project milestones and delivery targets.
Contribute to project reporting for internal and external stakeholders.




Compliance & Governance
Ensure compliance with contractual, statutory and regulatory requirements.
Maintain project records and commercial documentation.
Support quality assurance processes and audits.
Promote and contribute to workplace health and safety initiatives.
Uphold company values, policies and ethical standards.

Project commercial performance.
Accuracy and timeliness of project reporting.
Effective management of variations and claims.
Procurement savings and value creation.
Contractual compliance.
Budget and forecast accuracy.
Stakeholder satisfaction.
Quality of project documentation and record keeping.
Skills & Experience Essential
Degree or diploma qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building, Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum 3+ years' experience in a Contract Administrator role within the construction industry.
Strong understanding of construction contracts and procurement processes.
Experience administering subcontract agreements and managing variations.
Sound financial and commercial management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Solid written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
Desirable
Experience across commercial, education, civic, community, industrial, residential, healthcare or institutional projects.
Knowledge of Australian Standard contracts.
Experience using project management and contract administration software.
Understanding of sustainability and compliance requirements within construction projects.
