Job Description
At TAL, our Legal team plays a vital role in helping us deliver confidence and care to our customers when they need it most. As a Legal Counsel, you'll provide trusted advice that supports informed decision making across the business, helping navigate complex challenges while ensuring we meet our legal and regulatory obligations. Working closely with a diverse range of stakeholders, you'll contribute to meaningful outcomes that protect our customers, strengthen our business, and support TAL's purpose of helping Australians live a life filled with choices, options and freedoms.
In This Role You Will:




Provide trusted legal advice that enables confident, customer-focused business decisions.
Navigate complex disputes and complaints to protect customer outcomes and TAL's interests.
Partner with Claims and Underwriting teams to manage legal risk and achieve business objectives.
Strengthen regulatory compliance through expert guidance on industry obligations and standards.
Build legal capability across the business through practical coaching and knowledge sharing.
Collaborate across teams to deliver explicit, commercially focused legal solutions and advice.
Please note, this is a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Qualifications
Admitted to practise law in Australia, with 3+ years' post qualification experience.
Experience providing legal advice within financial services or another regulated environment.
Knowledge of insurance law and the regulatory landscape relevant to customer outcomes.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in law and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a collaborative approach to partnering across teams.
Highly organised, self-motivated and able to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
