About the opportunity
The University of Sydney's Veterinary Teaching Hospital is welcoming applications for a qualified Veterinary Nurse in Anaesthesia to provide support for clinical teaching and professional nursing assistance with clinical cases.
The staff member will work under close or direct supervision from Senior Staff, including Veterinarians and Senior Nurses. They will be expected to exercise a degree of initiative and judgement in resolving routine problems associated with day-to-day operating procedures. The staff member will undertake some planning and prioritisation of duties. You will be required to work varying rostered shifts supporting the UVTHS activities.

Your key responsibilities will be to:
administer anaesthesia
general nursing duties, including husbandry, restocking, and cleaning, as well as assisting other departments when anaesthesia is not busy
monitor patient vitals and provide pain management
maintain anaesthesia equipment and document patient records
provide post-operative care and assist with training junior staff and students.
About You
a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent) and/or advanced veterinary nursing experience in a small animal referral hospital environment
2-3 years of experience working as a Veterinary Nurse in a clinic
the eagerness to learn and upskill in anaesthesia
the ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
experience with advanced anaesthesia will be highly regarded.
