OYDIS Ashburton is bringing serious hospitality to the inner south-east and we're looking for an exceptional Assistant Venue Manager to help us run the show. Think craft cocktails, a cracking dining program, epic events, and a local crowd that actually becomes your crowd. All without the 7am tram squeeze.
About the role
Working in close partnership with our Venue Manager, you'll share genuine ownership of the venue; from the energy on the floor to the numbers on the spreadsheet. This isn't a "yes person" role. We want a co-pilot: someone who leads from the front, builds real relationships with our locals, and takes pride in every detail that makes a night at Oydis unforgettable.
As the first gastropub of Melbourne's old Dry Zone, we're already making waves in Ashburton. Now we need the right person to help us make some more.
What you'll be across
Front-of-house leadership and shift management
Food & Beverage operations, stock control, and financials
A standout cocktail bar and beverage program - this is a real point of difference and we want someone who gets excited about it
Events planning and execution from intimate dining experiences to big-night-out occasions
Rostering, wage management, and compliance
Recruitment, induction, and FOH team development
Marketing initiatives and driving revenue
OH&S; and maintenance standards
Company SOPs, training programs, and succession planning

Have a genuine passion for food, drinks, and the craft of hospitality
Get nerdy about cocktails and love talking guests through a well-built beverage program
Have experience with events - from planning to the post-event debrief
Lead by example and actually enjoy being on the floor
Are warm, energetic and the kind of person regulars remember by name
Can hold your own in a spreadsheet as well as behind a pass
Take ownership, back yourself, and bring your team along for the ride
Have experience with Ordermate & OpenTable (handy, but not a dealbreaker)
What we need from you
Minimum 2 years' experience managing a food and beverage venue
Solid FOH knowledge and genuine leadership ability
A beverage background with cocktail bar or structured beverage program exposure
Events experience - planning, coordinating, and delivering
Flexibility to be present during peak periods (because that's when it counts)
