The position sits within the National Redress Scheme (NRS) Team that sits within the Right to Information and Privacy Services Unit of Legal Services. The role encompasses the application of the NRS legislation to conduct all necessary enquiries and respond to the Lead Agency of Department of Families, Seniors and Disability Services and Child Safety, in order to provide information that is used to determine eligibility to the Scheme.
Your key accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
Fulfil the Commissioner's obligations with respect to compliance with requests for information and other legal processes, requiring document production in Queensland and Interstate.
Contribute to the development of policy, practice and procedures for the release of information under the National Redress Scheme (NRS) legislation and other legal processes.
Allocate and overview work tasks in accordance with legislated time frames to ensure compliance and supervise the performance of team members including the provision of training and performance management.
Process complex requests for information and other legal processes served upon the Commissioner,
including checking for privileged material in compliance with court ordered and legislative timeframes, including the collation and digitisation of materials.
Provide briefings to the Scheme Co-ordinator, Manager or Director, as required, regarding requests for information and other legal processes.
Develop, input and maintain information management systems related to NRS applications and generate reports as required.
Establish and maintain constructive skilled relationships with legal practitioners, both internal and external, on matters involving NRS, Crown Law information requests and Right to Information (RTI) release of information.

Knowledge and experience in the release of information under the RTI legislation as it relates to the National Redress Scheme would be highly desirable.
