Start your career with a reputable company with a strong mine life, a commitment to operating safely, and a strong focus on supporting the local community. This is a great opportunity to work in the mining industry while living in a major regional city - and be home to family everyday.
About the role
This residential position works Monday - Friday working 40 hours per week. On completion of trade school apprentices will get the opportunity to work rotating shifts, giving them the exposure to what it's like to work as an Underground Fitter. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience while completing a nationally recognised qualification and learning from experienced tradespeople in a agile mining environment.
As an Apprentice Diesel Fitter, you will develop the skills and knowledge required to inspect, service, repair and maintain a range of heavy mobile mining equipment. You will work alongside qualified tradespeople and receive ongoing mentoring and support throughout your apprenticeship.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with servicing and maintenance of mining and heavy earthmoving equipment.
Learn diagnostic and fault-finding techniques.
Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance activities.
Maintain a safe and productive work environment.
Complete apprenticeship training requirements and workplace assessments.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
A willingness to take direction and comply with site procedures and ensure that safety is a core value at all times
Completion of Year 10, with Year 12 preferred.
Mechanical aptitude and a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in the mechanical trades in a mining environment
Previous work experience, VET studies, or exposure to mechanical trades will be highly regarded.
Acceptable levels of literacy and numeracy competence to enable you to complete the theory components of the mandatory study modules
Enthusiasm and motivation to succeed
Reliability, motivation and a positive attitude
A willingness to work in an underground environment
As transportation to site is not provided by the company, the successful candidate would need the ability to travel to and from site each day of their own accord, so a current drivers licence (or working towards obtaining one) would be beneficial.
