Veritas House is a vibrant, not-for-profit, community-based organisation with a specific focus on supporting vulnerable children, young people and their families.
About the role
We are seeking dedicated and adaptable Casual Youth Workers to provide care and support to children, young people and families across a range of our programs, including our Interim and Therapeutic Care Homes, our Youth refuges, and Permanency Support Team.
This role offers a variety of hours across Orange, Bathurst, and surrounding areas, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and occasional sleepovers. It's ideal for those starting out in community services, as well as experienced professionals. You'll gain hands‐on experience across multiple programs, develop practical skills, and grow your career while working alongside supportive teams. Every shift is an opportunity to empower children and young people, build your expertise, and make a meaningful impact in our local community.
Some of your responsibilities may include
Provide supervision and support to vulnerable children and young people through their daily routines in a residential setting. This could include preparing meals and helping with laundry to working alongside young people to develop practical life skills such as budgeting, cooking, time management, and independent living.
Facilitate and supervise family time visits between children, young people and their family members, ensuring a comfortable and supportive environment.
Provide safe and reliable transport to school, appointments, community activities,
or social events to help our young people stay connected to their essential services, supports and the community.
Respond calmly and effectively to challenging situations, providing reassurance, guidance, and problem‐solving support when children and young people are distressed or in crisis.

What we need from you
You do need to be qualified to do this work, or to be at least halfway through your studies and committed to continuing until you are finished. You might be doing Certificate IV or a Diploma in Youth Work or Community Services, or studying at Uni.
You must also have a driver's license, current first aid certificate, a clear Working with Children Check, and be prepared to have us do a Police Check before you start.
*To be considered at this time, we would require you to be willing to do sleepover shifts, and have a minimum of 3 days a week availability.
