CNC Laser Cutting Operator
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated CNC Laser Cutting Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team based in Melbourne's northern suburbs.
Working with modern CNC fibre laser cutting equipment, you will be responsible for producing high-quality precision components for the defence and general engineering industries. Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC fibre laser cutting machines.
Load and unload steel, stainless steel and aluminium sheet.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, work orders and production documentation.
Verify materials, sheet thicknesses and job specifications prior to production.
Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to ensure optimum cutting quality.
Perform first-off and in-process quality inspections.
Carry out routine machine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance.
Report machine faults or maintenance requirements promptly.
Complete production records accurately.
Maintain a clean, organised and protected work area.
Work closely with supervisors and fellow team members to achieve production schedules and quality objectives.




About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
Previous experience operating CNC laser cutting machines or similar CNC manufacturing equipment.
The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A positive attitude, strong work ethic and reliable attendance.
Commitment to workplace health and safety.
The following would be advantageous but are not essential
Experience with Bystronic or similar CNC laser cutting equipment.
Overhead crane experience (not essential).
Experience in sheet metal fabrication or general manufacturing.
