Job Description
Reporting into the Executive Leadership Team, the appointed candidate will provide commercially focused legal advice across a broad range of matters affecting the organisation.
Working closely with executives and leaders across commercial, operations, finance, marketing, HR and procurement, they will become a trusted business partner who provides pragmatic advice that supports commercial outcomes while appropriately managing legal risk.
Key responsibilities will include:
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts and agreements.
Providing practical legal advice across commercial, contract, consumer, employment and intellectual property matters.
Supporting the negotiation of customer, supplier and strategic partnership agreements.
Advising on legal and commercial risk, developing practical mitigation strategies.
Managing contractual risk throughout the contract lifecycle.
Maintaining and improving the organisation's suite of template agreements.
Advising on disputes and managing external legal advisers where specialist expertise is required.
Working closely with senior stakeholders to support business initiatives and commercial projects.
Managing external legal spend to ensure value for money.
Contributing to governance, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives across the legal function.
This is a highly autonomous and generalist in-house role offering excellent variety and the opportunity to become involved in strategic commercial decision-making.

About the Candidate
Experience gained within a respected commercial law firm, an in-house legal team, or a combination of both.
Strong experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and confidence to advise senior leaders.
Sound knowledge of Australian commercial law, contract law and consumer law.
Exposure to employment law, intellectual property or dispute management will be advantageous.
Excellent drafting, communication and negotiation skills.
A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach with strong commercial judgement.
Most importantly, you will enjoy building relationships across the business and can translate complex legal issues into practical commercial advice.
