Mount Scopus Memorial College is one of the world's most respected co-educational Jewish Day Schools. Operating across three world-class campuses in Melbourne, we support approximately 1,400 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 and employ a dedicated team of around 700 staff.
We are seeking a proactive, collaborative Risk and Compliance Lead to champion a culture of risk awareness, safety, and continuous improvement across the College. This isn't a role about just ticking boxes or writing policies that sit on a shelf. As a subject matter expert, you will provide practical, operational leadership, working hand-in-hand with staff to build organisational resilience. From assisting teachers with completing risk assessments to developing and maintaining the College risk registers, compliance calendar, and compliance registers, you will ensure the College meets its legal, regulatory, and ethical obligations while actively supporting our strategic vision.
Key Responsibilities
Risk Management: Maintain the College's Risk Register to required standards. Facilitate risk assessments for strategic, operational, and financial risks, and build staff capability for camps, tours, and major initiatives.
Compliance & Assurance: Oversee compliance calendars and registers. Coordinate reviews, internal audits, and regulatory reporting (including annual VRQA and ACARA performance reports). Provide operational compliance support to our Early Learning Centres (ELC).
Policy Governance: Lead the development, review, and continuous improvement of College policies,



ensuring they remain aligned with legislative updates and sector best practices.
Training & Culture: Partner with the Director of People and Culture to design and deliver professional learning programs that make risk, compliance, and workplace safety accessible and engaging for all staff.
Governance Support: Partner with the Head of Operations to ensure appropriate compliance systems are in place to meet legislative and regulatory requirements, Provide expert advice and guidance to leaders and staff, whilst promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, safety, integrity and continuous improvement.
Child Safety & WHS: Work closely with senior Child Safety Officers and WHS stakeholders to ensure an unwavering commitment to a safe environment for all students, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Risk Management, Governance, Business, Law, Compliance,



Audit, OHS, or a related discipline.
Experience: Proven experience developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise risk and compliance frameworks within a complex organisation.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of enterprise risk principles and regulatory frameworks relevant to schools (e.g., Child Protected Standards, VRQA requirements, Privacy obligations, and OHS legislation).
Systems: High level of data literacy with experience using governance, risk, and compliance software systems (Google Workspace and tools like Consent2Go preferred).
Compliance Pre-requisites: A valid Working with Children Check, a current Victorian Driver's License, and a willingness to undergo a National Police Check. Please note that the College may require additional background checks.
Prior experience within an independent school, education provider, not-for-profit, or similarly regulated environment is highly regarded.
