About the role Flagship Pioneering is looking for a Contracts Attorney to join its in-house legal team. This role involves drafting, negotiating, and managing a diverse range of contracts for Flagship's portfolio companies. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in commercial and research agreements, along with the ability to foster relationships within the organization.

What you'll do
Draft, negotiate, and oversee various contracts related to business operations and research and development for Flagship's portfolio companies, including Master Service Agreements, Consulting Agreements, Confidential Disclosure Agreements, and research collaboration contracts.
Conduct initial contract reviews and prepare drafts for senior attorney evaluation.
Assist in training relevant business units on contract processes to ensure compliance with approval and requirement protocols.
Format documents for final approval and execution, utilizing e-signature platforms.
Collaborate with departments such as Finance and Procurement to enhance contract processes and suggest improvements as necessary.
Provide guidance to stakeholders regarding their contractual rights and obligations.
Identify and help resolve issues that may affect the timely completion of contracts.
Requirements
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Must be admitted to the bar in at least one U.S. state and maintain valuable standing throughout employment.




Proven ability to handle multiple matters simultaneously with guidance from senior attorneys; must prioritize effectively and maintain accuracy under tight deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
High responsiveness and excellent interpersonal skills; must demonstrate a strong customer service orientation while managing stakeholder expectations across Flagship's portfolio.
Demonstrated eagerness to learn and utilize advanced AI legal tools to enhance the efficiency and quality of legal work.
Highly self-motivated and driven, with the ability to thrive independently in a dynamic corporate environment.

Experience in the life sciences or healthcare sectors.
Background in a law firm or in-house legal department.
Familiarity with contract management systems and AI tools for document review and finalization.
Willingness to develop negotiation skills and conduct legal research relevant to contract functions.

The salary range for this position is $138,000 - $236,500. Compensation will be determined based on various factors, including the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.
