Confoil is a proudly family-owned Australian manufacturer with operations across Australia and New Zealand. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a commercially minded Chief Financial Officer to provide strategic and operational financial leadership across the business and to play a genuinely hands-on role in our success.
About the role
Working as a key member of the executive team, the CFO holds overall responsibility for the finance function across our Australian and New Zealand operations. This covers financial reporting, cash and treasury management, budgeting and forecasting, manufacturing costing, pricing and margin management, taxation, risk and IT. You will also serve as Company Secretary, supporting strong corporate governance and effective board processes.
This is a hands‐on leadership position in a flat, close‐knit business. It will suit someone who wants to work shoulder to shoulder with the team, get into the details, and support day‐to‐day operational decisions while maintaining strong financial discipline and governance. It could suit an experienced CFO or a senior Financial Controller ready to step into a broader leadership role.
You will lead a finance and IT team including a Finance Manager, an accounts team of five and three IT staff, with a dotted‐line relationship to the New Zealand management accountant and oversight of our local NZ accounting support.
What you'll do
Develop and implement financial strategies that support growth and profitability
Lead the finance function and deliver accurate, timely and reliable financial information
Oversee month‐end and year‐end close, statutory reporting and the annual external audit
Lead the company's risk management framework and compliance program
Manage cash flow, liquidity and working capital, banking relationships, and foreign exchange and metals (LME) hedging
Own the pricing model and costing systems,

including quarterly price reviews and contractual rise‐and‐fall mechanisms
Drive manufacturing costing, inventory valuation and product profitability across the Australian and New Zealand operations
Provide commercial analysis to support pricing, procurement and capital investment decisions
Attend board meetings and present financial detail with clarity and confidence
Fulfil Company Secretary duties, ensuring ASIC, ATO and governance obligations are met
What you'll need
Demonstrated proof of working within a family‐owned business is essential. You understand the unique dynamics, close working relationships and pragmatic decision‐making of a privately held, family‐run company, and can point to real experience in that environment.
CA or CPA qualified with a minimum 7 years' experience as a Financial Controller or equivalent senior finance leadership role.
Strong treasury, banking, cash flow and working capital expertise, with a sharp focus on liquidity. Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical and reporting skills. A hands‐on, collaborative style and proven track record of leading and developing a finance team. Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder‐relationship skills.
Highly regarded (a strong plus)
Experience in a manufacturing environment, with 7 to 10 years in manufacturing preferred
Strong understanding of manufacturing costing and inventory management
Experience with pricing frameworks, product costing and contractual rise‐and‐fall pricing mechanisms
Why Confoil?
Join a reliable, values‐driven, family‐owned business where your work has a direct impact, and your voice is heard. You will work closely with the owners, present to the board, and see the results of your decisions. Competitive package available, on‐site parking, and full training provided on our established ERP system.
As a senior member of the leadership team, this is a full‐time, on‐site role based at our Bayswater head office, five days per week.
