We are seeking a motivated Optometrist to join our specialist ophthalmology team, working across
Armadale Eye Clinic (AEC)
and
Mornington Peninsula Eye Clinic (MPEC)
.
About the Role
Working closely with our doctors, and management team you will play an integral role in supporting both the clinical team and the ongoing growth of the practice.
This role combines the best of both worlds—working alongside ophthalmologists as part of our orthoptic team on consultant clinic days, while also running your own primary care optometry clinics on non-consultant days.
Consultant Clinic Days
Perform comprehensive pre-assessments and diagnostic testing.
Assist ophthalmologists during specialist consulting sessions.
Manage patient flow within busy consultant clinics.
Participate in laser vision correction, cataract and general ophthalmology pathways.
Work closely with orthoptists, ophthalmologists and administrative staff to provide exceptional patient care and team work.
Primary Care Clinic Days
Red eyes and eye pain.
Urgent GP referrals.
Flashes and floaters triage.
General eye health concerns.
Borderline referrals requiring specialist assessment.
Dry eye assessments and treatment.
Where appropriate, you'll be able to
bill Medicare
, manage patients independently and refer internally to our ophthalmologists when specialist care is required. This allows our surgeons to focus on complex cases while ensuring patients receive timely care

Locations and Approximate Roster
The successful applicant will work across:
Travel between clinics will be required.
The role is approximately
3.5–5 days per week
on a rotating four-week roster.
About You
Current AHPRA registration as an Optometrist.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Indemnity -personal insurance policy
Strong clinical decision-making abilities.
A collaborative approach to patient care.
Experience in dry eye management or anterior eye disease (desirable but not essential).
Current Police check for employment
Solid attention to detail/ High level computer literacy
Previous experience in ophthalmology is welcomed but not required—we are happy to provide training to the right candidate.
