What you'll do
Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to facilitate data ingestion and transformation from various sources.
Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand their data requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs.
Implement best practices for data governance, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance with relevant regulations.
Optimize existing data workflows and processes to improve performance and reduce latency in data access.
Monitor and troubleshoot data platform performance issues, implementing solutions to enhance reliability and efficiency.
Work with cloud-based data storage solutions, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, to manage large datasets effectively.
Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to the overall data strategy of the organization.
Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on data engineering best practices and technologies.
Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in data technologies, recommending new tools and methodologies to improve our data platform.
Document data processes, architectures, and workflows to ensure knowledge sharing and maintainability.
Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate data solutions into CI/CD pipelines for seamless deployment.
Engage in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices within the team.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering or a related role, with a strong focus on data platform development.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, with experience in building data pipelines.
Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar.
Familiarity with big data technologies such as Apache Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka is highly desirable.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and their data services.
Understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and data architecture principles.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
A proactive attitude towards learning and adapting to recent technologies and methodologies.
Nice to have
Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
Knowledge of machine learning concepts and experience working with data science teams.
Previous experience in a leadership or mentoring role within a technical team.
Understanding of data privacy regulations such as GDPR and their implications on data handling.
