AMC Electrical & Automation Pty Ltd – Griffith NSW
Build, Program, Commission and See Your Work Come to Life
AMC Electrical & Automation is a growing, family-owned industrial electrical and automation company based in Griffith, NSW.
We deliver practical automation solutions across manufacturing, food and beverage processing, wineries, packing facilities, agribusiness and specialised industrial projects throughout the Riverina and beyond.
We are seeking an experienced
Control Systems & Automation Engineer
who can take projects from initial scope and design through to programming, testing, commissioning and handover.
This is a practical, hands‐on role offering genuine ownership of projects. You will not be limited to one isolated stage of the engineering process or spend every day doing the same thing.
One week you may be developing PLC and HMI software for a recent machine or process. The next, you could be commissioning a control system, integrating equipment, upgrading a legacy PLC or troubleshooting a complex industrial breakdown.
The Role
Working closely with our Managing Director, electricians, clients and suppliers, you will help design, develop, program and commission industrial automation and control systems.
Your responsibilities may include:
PLC programming, modification and fault finding
HMI and SCADA development
Control‐system design and architecture
Developing functional descriptions and control philosophies
Legacy PLC upgrades and system migrations
Reviewing existing programs and rationalising old code
Industrial communications and network integration
Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP and similar industrial protocols
VSD, instrumentation, sensor and field‐device integration
Machine and process automation
Existing plant upgrades and reliability improvements
Factory testing and site commissioning
Supporting complex industrial breakdowns
Producing clear technical documentation and project records
Working with our electrical team through installation and commissioning

You will be involved in real projects from concept through to completion and will see the finished systems operate.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone with genuine, practical industrial automation experience.
You should be able to demonstrate experience in several of the following areas:
PLC programming and commissioning
HMI or SCADA development
Industrial control systems
Machine or process automation
Electrical and instrumentation systems
Industrial networking and communications
Live‐site commissioning
Complex fault finding and troubleshooting
Working from drawings, site information and customer requirements
Supporting electrical trades during installation and commissioning
Experience with platforms such as
Rockwell/Allen‐Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, Omron, Delta, AutomationDirect
or similar will be highly regarded.
Experience involving robotics, machine safety, legacy PLC migrations, process control, instrumentation, IIoT, industrial networking or food and beverage automation would also be valuable.
The Right Person
This role would suit someone who:
Can independently take ownership of technical problems
Can turn a scope or control philosophy into working PLC and HMI software
Is comfortable working in live industrial environments
Communicates clearly with electricians, clients and suppliers
Understands that commissioning is where the design and programming are proven
Enjoys practical problem-solving and varied project work
Wants to help build and grow an automation business
This is an experienced position and is not suitable for an entry‐level applicant requiring close supervision.
Qualifications
We are open to candidates from different technical backgrounds, including:
Electrical, mechatronics,

automation or control systems engineers
Experienced automation or controls technicians
Industrial electricians who have progressed into PLC and automation engineering
Control systems professionals with strong practical industry experience
A relevant degree is highly regarded; however, proven capability and real‐world experience are equally important.
Applicants must have:
Current Australian working rights
A current Australian driver's licence
Strong written and verbal communication skills
The ability to work independently and within a small team
A practical and solutions‐focused approach
Why Join AMC?
AMC is not a large corporate engineering firm.
You will work directly with decision‐makers, clients and tradespeople without unnecessary layers of management. You will be involved in the complete project lifecycle and have the opportunity to see your work operating in the real world.
We offer:
A negotiable package for the right candidate
Diverse and technically interesting projects
Genuine ownership of projects
A mix of office, workshop and site‐based work
A supportive, family‐owned business environment
Ongoing professional development and supplier training
Flexible arrangements where project requirements allow
Relocation assistance for the right candidate
The opportunity to help shape and grow our automation division
Why Griffith?
Griffith offers the career opportunities of a strong industrial and agricultural region while maintaining a relaxed regional lifestyle.
The city provides comparatively lower housing costs, established schools and training options, sporting and recreational facilities, and a strong community centred around food, wine, sport and family.
For someone relocating, it offers the opportunity to build a technically rewarding career without lengthy daily commutes or large‐city corporate pressures.
Employment Options
Full‐time employment is preferred; however, part‐time or contract arrangements may be considered for an exceptional candidate.
