Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct is a youth custodial facility that accommodates young people aged 17 to 24 years. The primary health service is a nurse-led model, with 24/7 on-site nursing coverage.

About the role
cohealth is experienced in delivering services and support to people and their families involved with the justice and child protection systems.
The AOD Health Worker will be primarily responsible for delivering the AOD Health curriculum across a range of topics including release related harm reduction and treatment readiness. These programs can be run individually or in groups onsite, depending on the needs of the young people.
The role will be responsible for conducting brief AOD assessments to determine appropriate training modules and for documenting and reporting on services delivered.
Your duties include:
Complete brief AOD assessments for young people at Malmsbury using the Justice Health assessment tool




Deliver the AOD Health & Psychosocial Program curriculum as instructed by Justice Health and contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of the program modules
Deliver curriculum using a non-judgmental and strength-based approach

Our ideal candidate:
Tertiary qualifications in a health-related field and eligibility to join the relevant qualified body
Demonstrated experience working in the AOD sector, or working effectively with people who use alcohol and other drugs
Knowledge of the health and social issues for young people who use drugs such as blood borne virus prevention, pharmacotherapy treatment, harm reduction, stigma and discrimination
The roles in this program are required to undergo mandatory additional security screening. Details will be provided to successful candidates.

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC), a Working With Children Check (WWCC), completion of a Pre-Employment Declaration Form, evidence of legal rights to work in Australia, and evidence of immunisation.
Successful applicants will be required to provide evidence of immunisation assessment including influenza within 12 weeks of commencement.
