Cloud and Infrastructure Engineer at Eastern Health. About the role Eastern Health is seeking a dedicated Cloud and Infrastructure Engineer to join our technology team, where you will be instrumental in underpinning the digital backbone of our critical public health services. In this permanent, full‐time position, you will contribute directly to the stability and scalability of systems that support healthcare professionals in delivering essential care to the community. What you'll do
Architect, deploy, and oversee robust cloud infrastructure solutions tailored to meet the high‐availability demands of clinical and administrative healthcare operations.
Actively monitor and optimize cloud environments to ensure peak performance, cost‐efficiency, and maximum system reliability across the organization.
Partner with multidisciplinary teams, including clinical staff and IT specialists, to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical infrastructure.
Manage the end‐to‐end lifecycle of infrastructure projects, from initial design and capacity planning through to implementation and ongoing maintenance.
Implement and enforce rigorous security protocols and compliance frameworks to protect sensitive patient data and maintain the integrity of health information systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure incidents, performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence and improve system resilience.
Maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud configurations, network topologies,



and standard operating procedures to ensure team alignment and knowledge sharing.
Support the transition of legacy on‐premises workloads to cloud‐native or hybrid architectures to modernise the Eastern Health technology stack.
Configure and manage virtualization layers to ensure efficient resource allocation and high‐performance delivery of healthcare applications.
Participate in the continuous improvement of infrastructure delivery pipelines, focussing on stability, security, and operational excellence.
Requirements
Possession of a formal tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
A minimum of 3 years of professional, hands‐on experience specifically focused on the management and administration of cloud infrastructure environments.
Demonstrated technical proficiency in at least one major public cloud ecosystem, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Deep, practical understanding of enterprise networking concepts, including routing, switching, firewalls, and load balancing within cloud‐based architectures.
Proven capability in applying security best practices and protocols to cloud environments to safeguard critical infrastructure.
Strong familiarity with virtualization technologies and their role in supporting enterprise‐level server and application hosting.
Exceptional analytical and problem‐solving abilities, with a track record of diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues in high‐pressure environments.




Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team‐oriented, cross‐functional organisational structure.
Nice to have
Practical experience in implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and utilizing automation tools to streamline deployment processes.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash to automate routine infrastructure tasks and improve operational efficiency.
Prior exposure to healthcare‐specific IT environments, including familiarity with clinical systems, electronic health records (EHR), and relevant industry compliance standards.
Experience with containerisation technologies and orchestration platforms that support modern application development and deployment.
