As our project portfolio continues to expand, we are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to support the preparation of competitive tenders, project pricing and cost planning for upcoming construction works.
This is a permanent full-time position based at our Strathfield South office.
About the Role
Reporting directly to senior management, the Construction Estimator will play an integral role in the planning and commercial delivery of construction projects from the initial enquiry through to contract award.
The successful applicant will work closely with project managers, site supervisors, suppliers, subcontractors and clients to prepare accurate project estimates and support informed commercial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
Reviewing project documentation, engineering drawings, specifications and scope of works to determine project requirements.
Preparing detailed cost estimates for commercial and civil construction projects by analysing labour, materials, plant, equipment and subcontractor requirements.
Measuring quantities and preparing pricing schedules using project documentation.
Obtaining,



reviewing and comparing quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive and commercially realistic pricing.
Preparing comprehensive tender submissions, quotations and project budgets within required deadlines.
Identifying commercial risks, cost variations and pricing opportunities during the estimating process.
Preparing estimates for contract variations, additional works and project amendments as construction progresses.
Liaising with project managers, site supervisors and operational staff to verify construction methodologies, project sequencing and resource requirements.
Maintaining supplier pricing information, estimating records and historical project cost data to support future tenders.
Monitoring market pricing trends for construction materials, subcontractor services and labour costs.
Assisting management during tender negotiations by providing technical pricing information and cost breakdowns where required.
Reviewing completed projects to compare estimated and actual project costs, identifying opportunities to improve estimating accuracy and cost control.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position you should demonstrate:




Practical experience preparing construction estimates, quotations or tender submissions within the construction industry.
Sound understanding of construction methods, project sequencing and interpretation of engineering and construction drawings.
Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to assess project costs with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, together with experience using estimating software or similar construction management systems.
Qualifications
Applicants with qualifications in one or more of the following areas will be highly regarded:
Construction Management
Building
Quantity Surveying
Civil Engineering
Construction Engineering
A related construction discipline
Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.

Salary AUD $95,000 – $110,000 plus Superannuation, depending on qualifications, experience and demonstrated capability.
