About the role Canva is looking for a senior backend engineer to join the User Platform team in Sydney. You will focus on scaling authentication systems to support a 10x increase in user volume while enhancing features for Enterprise and Education customers.

What you'll do
Build and maintain high-performance microservices within the User Product landscape.
Design scalable authentication and user management systems.
Create reusable components for other internal teams to utilize.
Coordinate with stakeholders to define requirements and optimize project timelines.
Manage incident response and participate in on-call rotations.
Improve the platform experience for large-scale organizational and educational accounts.
Requirements
Professional experience with large-scale, high-performance Java backend systems.
Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals including multithreading, concurrency,



data structures, and architectural design patterns.
Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with cross-functional team members.
A systematic approach to solving complex engineering problems.
Nice to have
Practical experience with authentication and authorization frameworks.
Proficiency with SQL.
Experience working with DynamoDB.
Skills & tools
Java - AWS - SQL - DynamoDB - Microservices architecture
