About the role:
Your challenges as the Hepatobiliary and Upper GI Surgery fellow at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse for **** will be to provide surgical treatment and care in the field of Hepatobiliary and Upper GI surgery.
Your responsibilities will include:
Responsible for weekly outpatient clinic visits.
Inpatient daily ward rounds.
Surgical assisting and training in a wide range of surgical procedures including Oesophagectomies, Gastrectomies and complex HPB surgeries, working with leading surgeons.
Perioperative care of complex surgical patients
General surgery database management
Tutoring and teaching of CMO, Residents, Registrars, Nursing staff, Students and Interns.
Responsible for the preparation and running of the weekly meetings including MDT, Morbidity and Mortality, Journal Club, Research and Topic presentations.




Research with a large clinical database and laboratory research facilities
Active role in research projects
It is essential to be a Medical Practitioner and be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia.
Postgraduate qualifications in General Surgery
Sub-speciality training in Transplant / Hepatobiliary and Upper GI Surgery is an advantage.
Basic surgical technique and confident to perform a range of Upper GI and Hepatobiliary procedures independently
Basic outpatient procedures
Evidence of Publications, Presentations and ongoing interest in research & teaching
Evidence of immunisations to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy for a Category A position
