Chermside Day Hospital features specialised, purpose-built facilities, high quality equipment, and is self-sufficient. Facilities include state-of-the-art operating theatres and procedure rooms, a spacious Post Anaesthesia Care (Recovery) Unit, comfortable Second Stage recovery room and well-appointed consulting suites. The hospital also features a self-contained sterilizing department and endoscope processing service.
We are seeking a full-time
Nurse Unit Manager
to assist the Hospital CEO/DoN in ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients undergoing day surgery and to act as a resource person for clinical nurses.
The Nurse Unit Manager will be responsible for:
Managing clinical staff and rostering
Developing effective relations with key stakeholders
Promoting and ensuring safe patient care
The ability to demonstrate and lead others in the delivery of good nursing care, documentation, customer service and effective inter-team communication
Positively implementing change
Commitment to and working knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement
Understanding of current WHS legislative requirements and ability to foster a safety culture
Contribute to continuous quality improvement in line with best practice.
Coordinate resources to ensure compliance requirements are meet for NSQHS edition 2, AS**** and QLD State Government licensing.
The ability to be flexible and adapt to changing circumstances
To be successful in this position, you should be able to meet the following criteria:
At least 5 years of recent experience working in a day surgery
Post Graduate qualifications in Peri-operative nursing (desirable but not essential)
Demonstrated leadership and management ability including the capacity to initiate and support change within a team framework
Demonstrated management skills with ability to take initiative in resolving issues
Well-developed organisational and decision-making skills
The ability to set priorities, establish and achieve agreed objectives
Thorough knowledge of consumables, product management and cost containment
Demonstrated computer literacy and confidence in using Microsoft
