Under close supervision from experienced industry professionals, this role offers an engaging, competency‐based traineeship designed to build valuable skills in business administration within Councils Water team. Through a blend of formal study and hands‐on, on‐the‐job learning, you will gain practical experience while working in a dynamic and qualified environment.
You will be required to deliver friendly, high‐quality customer service to a diverse range of stakeholders, including internal teams, external customers, government departments and Council leadership. Alongside this, you will support the day‐to‐day administration of the Water teams, assisting with record keeping and archiving in line with Council guidelines.
This role provides exposure to a broad range of administrative activities. You will assist with the preparation of business documentation aligned with section and division objectives, provide administrative support across multiple work sites, and help coordinate internal and external contractor bookings—gaining insight into how large‐scale operations are supported behind the scenes.
This traineeship is a fantastic opportunity to build transferable business skills, develop professional confidence, and contribute to essential Council services while working towards a nationally recognised qualification.

Qualifications And Experience
In an ideal applicant, we are looking for:
Willingness to be part of, and promote, a positive safety culture whilst adhering to all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Minimum completed of Year 10 with passes in English and Mathematics.
Minimum of Queensland C class provisional drivers' licence (or ability to obtain).
Sound written and verbal communication skills.
Sound computer skills.
Ability to work effectively and be positively involved within a team environment.
Complete all training and assessment requirements of a Certificate IV in Business as per the provided training plan. This includes attending and participating in structured formal learning at the nominated Registered Training Organisation (RTO) as well as keeping an accurate and up to date training record book.
