Mechanical Fitter/Production Technician (Beverage Manufacturing and Packaging)

Position Summary
The Mechanical Fitter / Production Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and improving production equipment across all manufacturing and packaging lines. This hands‐on role supports daily production operations by ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, conducting preventative maintenance and assisting with production line changeovers.
The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Packaging, Quality and Operations teams to maintain protected, efficient and high‐quality manufacturing standards.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Equipment Reliability
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on manufacturing and packaging equipment.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic and basic electrical faults.
Troubleshoot production issues to minimise downtime.
Maintain filling, labelling, pasteurisation and packaging equipment.




Conduct routine line inspections and equipment condition monitoring.
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production stoppages.
Manage spare parts inventory and assist in sourcing replacement components.
Maintain maintenance records and documentation.
Production Support
Support daily operation of production lines as required.
Assist with machine set‐up, start‐up and shutdown procedures.
Carry out product changeovers and format adjustments.
Optimise production line performance and efficiency.
Work collaboratively with production operators during scheduled runs.
Assist with commissioning of new equipment and process improvements.
Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
Support implementation of preventative maintenance programs.
Participate in root cause analysis of recurring issues.
Recommend process and equipment improvements.
Assist with reducing waste, downtime and production losses.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
Ensure maintenance activities comply with food manufacturing standards.
Adhere to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and HACCP requirements.
Maintain a clean,



organised and safe work workplace.
Participate in safety audits and improvement initiatives.
Ensure equipment is maintained in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
Skills & Experience
Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner, Maintenance Fitter or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years' Beverage manufacturing experience.
Experience working with filling and packaging machinery.
Knowledge of carbonated beverage production systems.
Strong mechanical fault‐finding and troubleshooting skills.
Experience with pumps, conveyors, motors, gearboxes and pneumatic systems.
Ability to read mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
Strong problem‐solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Full Australian working rights.
Welding and fabrication skills.
Understanding of HACCP and GMP requirements.
