This is a new role. We're looking for someone to take ownership of national procurement from our Tullamarine warehouse.
You'll handle the full buying process for CCTV cameras, cables, IT equipment and related products. A big part of the job is looking at the data - stock levels, supplier performance, spend - and using that to give practical advice on how we should be buying and managing inventory. There's also a bit of hands-on warehouse work involved.
You'll report to the Supply Chain Manager and be capable to work independently.
Data and information
Keep accurate records on suppliers, orders, stock levels, lead times and costs
Look at the numbers to spot trends, risks and opportunities
Put together clear reports and recommendations for the Supply Chain Manager
Make sure supplier and product information is organised and up to date
Buying and suppliers
Raise and manage daily and weekly orders with our regular suppliers (around ***** of them)
Source new suppliers when we need them
Negotiate prices, lead times and terms
Keep an eye on how suppliers are performing and chase issues when they come up
Maintain good working relationships with the key ones
Stock and returns
Keep inventory accurate at the warehouse
Use the data to set sensible reorder points and avoid both stock-outs and excess
Help manage returns, warranty claims and defective stock, and keep the paperwork in order
Process and advice
Look at how we currently do things and suggest practical improvements
Give advice on better ways to organise purchasing, stock control and supplier management
Help put simple procedures in place that actually work
Contribute ideas on how the supply chain side of the business can run better as we grow
Warehouse
Lend a hand in the warehouse when needed (receiving, put-away, stock checks)
What we're after
Solid experience in procurement or purchasing, ideally in wholesale, electronics, IT or something similar
Comfortable working with data, writing reports and turning information into useful recommendations
Experience dealing with suppliers and negotiating
Understanding of inventory control
Organised, detail-focused and able to manage your own workload
Valuable with Excel and inventory systems
Can work independently but still fit in with the team
This isn't just a transactional buying job. You'll be expected to look at the information, organise it properly, and give practical advice on how we manage procurement and stock.
