Role Overview
Software Engineer with 5+ years of IT, system engineering, and software experience to join our National Platform Engineering team. This role focuses on providing engineering support, troubleshooting, and maintenance across portfolio of mission‐critical video solutions, with a strong emphasis on Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR/LPR) and Video Management Systems (VMS).
The ideal candidate is a versatile engineer — equally comfortable diagnosing network, software, and video system issues as they are enhancing and integrating software components. The role requires a solid IT and networking foundation, strong understanding of video technologies and analytics, and the ability to apply software engineering skills where needed to develop, extend, or automate solutions.
You will work across cloud and on‐premise environments, supporting end‐to‐end video systems and integrating them with broader mission‐critical platforms. Familiarity with .NET C#, REST APIs, and modern web technologies (e.g., Angular, Blazor) is highly valued to enable backend or frontend improvements and proof‐of‐concept development.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain backend services using .NET C#, REST APIs, SignalR, WebSockets, and microservices/SOA patterns.
Develop and enhance frontend applications using Angular and Blazor frameworks.
Troubleshoot network, video streaming, database, and software integration issues in Windows and Linux environments.
Perform system installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching to maintain operational stability.
Use SQL (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) for data analysis, troubleshooting, and reporting.
Apply scripting and automation tools to streamline operations and improve support efficiency.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to drive root‐cause analysis and implement long‐term solutions.
Create and maintain high‐quality technical documentation, ensuring accurate records of incidents, configurations, and resolutions.
Engage directly with customers to provide updates, guidance, and explicit communication throughout the support process.
Take ownership of assigned issues and drive them through to closure, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Technical Skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
5+ years of IT/System Engineering experience (infrastructure, servers, networking, system integration).
Strong IT foundation: Windows Server, Linux, virtualisation, networking.
Strong in the Azure cloud platform.
Strong .NET C# development skills.
Backend experience with REST APIs, WebSocket, SignalR, microservices, and SOA.
Frontend development experience with modern frameworks (Angular, Blazor, WebAssembly).
Knowledge of video technologies (IP cameras, video management systems, video encoding/decoding, RTSP, RTP, ONVIF).
Proficiency with SQL databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
Proven experience with customer engagement at a technical level, including troubleshooting discussions, solution delivery, and stakeholder communication.
Excellent problem‐solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Strong ability to communicate technical issues clearly to both technical and non‐technical audiences.
Willingness to travel across ANZ.
Australian Citizen with eligibility to obtain baseline and NV1 security clearance (mandatory).
