ABOUT THIS COMPANY
A growing, ISO-accredited manufacturer that designs and supplies high-quality engineered products to the industrial, infrastructure, construction and agricultural sectors. To support its continued expansion, the business is appointing an experienced General Manager - Operations to lead operational strategy and build the systems, processes and capabilities required for sustainable growth across domestic and international markets. For the right candidate, this newly created, mission-critical role may offer a clear pathway to future progression, taking on additional departments & responsibilities - evolving into a Chief Operating Officer position.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting directly to the CEO, the General Manager - Operations will review, analyse and improve the company's organisational systems, operational procedures and business processes. Working closely with senior management, you will implement operational strategies, lift organisational efficiency, optimise resource allocation and support continued growth across both domestic and international markets.
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Organisational & Process Improvement:
Analyse the company's structure, operational workflows and business processes to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity and overall operational performance.
Operational Systems & Procedures:
Review and evaluate existing systems, policies and procedures across logistics, manufacturing, warehousing and other functions, recommending and implementing process improvements where appropriate.
Governance & Standardisation:
Develop,
implement and continuously improve standard operating procedures, operational frameworks, governance systems and internal controls to support sustainable growth.
Performance & Business Analysis:
Monitor operational performance through the analysis of operational data, financial reports and key performance indicators, providing strategic recommendations to senior management.
Cross-Functional Leadership:
Coordinate cross-functional improvement projects and ensure effective collaboration between Australian operations and international partners, suppliers and stakeholders.
Operational Strategy:
Develop and implement organisational strategies, operational plans and business improvement initiatives that support the company's objectives and long-term expansion.
Senior Management Advisory:
Consult with directors and department managers to identify operational challenges, evaluate existing practices and implement practical solutions to improve organisational effectiveness.
Performance Measurement & Controls:
Design and oversee performance measurement systems, reporting frameworks and operational controls to monitor business performance, resource utilisation and efficiency.
Technology & Digital Transformation:
Evaluate business technologies, digital systems and operational processes,
recommending enhancements to improve efficiency, automation, data visibility and integration across domestic and international operations.
Resource & Operational Capacity Optimisation:
Identify opportunities to optimise resource allocation, operational capacity, inventory management and logistics processes.
Risk, Compliance & Governance:
Establish and maintain appropriate operational risk management, compliance and governance frameworks to ensure the organisation operates efficiently and consistently.
Reporting & Strategic Recommendations:
Prepare detailed analytical reports, operational reviews and strategic recommendations for senior management on organisational performance, resource allocation, operational risks and continuous improvement.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
This is a pivotal leadership role offering the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the organisation's next stage of growth. To succeed, you will bring:
Tertiary qualifications in engineering, business or a related technical discipline.
Proven senior operational leadership within an engineering or technical manufacturing setting.
Strong working knowledge of ISO ****, ERP and MRP systems, and Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience using AI tools to improve operational performance and deliver measurable business outcomes.
A down-to-earth leadership style, with excellent communication, interpersonal and time-management skills and a collaborative approach to building solid relationships across the business.
