What you'll do
Lead a team of 3D animators, providing guidance and mentorship to enhance their skills and foster a creative environment.
Collaborate with directors and producers to understand the vision for each project and translate that into compelling animation sequences.
Develop and maintain animation pipelines, ensuring that workflows are efficient and that the team meets production deadlines.
Review and critique animation work, offering constructive feedback to ensure that the final output aligns with project goals and artistic standards.
Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in animation to incorporate innovative techniques into our projects.
Coordinate with other departments, such as modeling, rigging, and lighting, to ensure seamless integration of animation within the overall production.
Create and maintain documentation for animation processes,
ensuring that best practices are shared across the team.
Participate in recruitment efforts to attract top talent to the animation team, conducting interviews and evaluating candidates' skills.
Manage project timelines and resources, ensuring that the animation team is adequately supported to meet production schedules.
Foster a positive team culture that encourages creativity, collaboration, and professional growth among team members.
Present animation concepts and progress to stakeholders, articulating the creative vision and technical execution of projects.
Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that arise during the animation process, ensuring that production remains on track.
Requirements
A minimum of 5 years of experience in 3‐D animation, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work in animated projects.
Proven leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team of animators.
Proficiency in industry‐standard animation software such as Maya, Blender, or 3ds Max.
Strong understanding of animation principles, character rigging, and motion dynamics.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey ideas and feedback.
Experience with project management tools and methodologies to oversee animation production.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‐paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Nice to have
Familiarity with game development pipelines and real‐time animation techniques.
Experience in visual effects or compositing software, such as After Effects or Nuke.
Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, MEL) to automate repetitive tasks in the animation workflow.
Previous experience in a leadership role within a creative studio or production environment.
A passion for storytelling and a keen eye for detail in visual aesthetics.
Skills & tools
Strong artistic and technical skills in 3‐D animation.
Proficient in using software such as Autodesk Maya, Blender, or similar tools.
Familiarity with rendering engines and compositing software.
Understanding of character design and animation principles.
Knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies in animation.
Solid problem‐solving skills and the ability to think creatively under pressure.
