Position Summary :
The Enrolled Nurse works under the direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and provides skilled, hands‐on nursing care according to an established clinical care plan. The Enrolled Nurse performs delegated clinical tasks, contributes observations to care planning, and plays a key role in delivering safe, evidence‐based care within their scope of practice. This role requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication, accurate documentation and the ability to recognise and upscale changes in a client's condition promptly to the supervising RN.
Key Requirements :
1–2 years post‐graduate nursing experience in aged care, disability, community, sub‐acute, or similar settings.
Experience performing clinical tasks independently while still working within a supervision model.
Experience interpreting and recording clinical observations accurately.
Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
Calm, professional communication style.
Compassion, patience, and respect for client dignity.
Ability to follow instructions precisely while understanding broader clinical goals.
Team‐oriented approach to multidisciplinary care.
Experience working autonomously in community environments.
Experience with clinical documentation systems and electronic care platforms.
Experience supporting clients with dementia, chronic conditions, or complex needs.
Job Responsibility :
Clinical Care Delivery
Perform delegated clinical tasks as directed by the supervising RN.
Conduct routine wound care, basic catheter care, simple dressings, and other interventions within EN scope.
Assist with health monitoring, symptom management, and client comfort measures.
Observation, Monitoring & Reporting
Measure, record, and interpret key clinical observations including:
Temperature
Blood pressure
Pulse and respiration
Oxygen saturation
Blood glucose levels
Recognise and communicate changes in client condition immediately to the RN.
Contribute clinical insights to care plan reviews but do not autonomously develop or alter care plans.
Administer oral, topical, and other medications if properly educated, endorsed, and delegated under appropriate supervision.
Follow strict medication safety guidelines and maintain accurate medication charts.
Monitor and report adverse effects or concerns promptly.
Documentation & Compliance
Complete clinical notes, observation charts, and intervention records immediately following care activities.
Maintain accurate and up‐to‐date clinical documentation that meets legislative and organisational standards.
Adhere to NMBA (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia) standards, supervision frameworks, and scope of practice requirements.
Collaboration & Professional Conduct
Assist the RN with health education, chronic disease management, and wellness programs.
Build positive rapport with clients, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
Maintain qualified boundaries, confidentiality, and high standards of ethical conduct.
Adhere to infection control, manual handling, and WHS requirements at all times.
Safety, Escalation & Risk Management
Identify early signs of deterioration and accelerate appropriately to the supervising RN.
Contribute to risk prevention by reporting hazards, incidents, and changes in client environment.
Ensure care is delivered safely, within EN scope, and in accordance with the agreed‐upon care plan.
