At Regional Home Builders, the estimate isn't a back-office formality it's the foundation the whole project stands on. Get it right and everyone downstream wins: the client, the trades, the business, and you.
We're a Bendigo-based custom home builder delivering quality homes across regional Victoria. Our clients come to us because we deliver more for their money, genuinely custom homes, built well, without the big-city price tag. To keep that promise, we need estimating and procurement done properly. That's the job.
What you'll actually be doing
You'll take a set of drawings and specs and turn them into a detailed, defensible estimate, quantity take-offs, labour and materials, BOQs, the lot. You'll source and negotiate the best prices from our suppliers and subbies, write clear scopes of work, prepare and release bid packages and purchase orders through Buildertrend, and keep our cost catalogues honest. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with our sales team on budget proposals, and alongside the Construction Manager, Project Managers and Contract Administrators once a job is live.
Your work is measured on things that matter: estimates that land within 3% of final cost, clean QA, and PO and procurement accuracy that keeps sites moving.
What you'll bring
At least 2 years estimating residential production or sales estimates (a trade background is a bonus, not a must)
A working knowledge of the NCC, the relevant Australian Standards (AS ****, AS ****, AS/NZS ****, AS ****) and the Building Act **** (Vic)
Confidence in Buildertrend, Estimate One, Excel or similar
Genuinely high attention to detail, strong numbers sense,



and the ability to juggle several estimates and deadlines without dropping the ball
Clear communication — you'll be talking to suppliers, subbies and colleagues every day
Bonus points for anyone across sustainable building practices and newer materials.

A few practicals
Australian working rights are essential. A driver's licence and White Card are handy (the White Card is required before any site visit). Offers are subject to reference checks and the usual pre-employment checks.
