About the role
In this position, you will become an integral part of the team responsible for Redgate Monitor, a pivotal product that aids numerous organizations worldwide in optimizing their database performance. This role emphasizes not only technical leadership but also the influence of architectural decisions and the mentorship of team members, all aimed at enhancing the overall engineering standards within the organization.

What you'll do
Spearhead the architectural vision and technical roadmap for the Redgate Monitor product, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Assume complete responsibility for intricate and ambiguous projects, guiding them from the initial conceptual phase through to successful implementation.
Collaborate closely with a diverse team that includes a Tech Lead, Lead Software Engineer, Product Designer, Product Manager, and a group of four to five software engineers, fostering a culture of teamwork and innovation.
Provide mentorship to fellow team members, enhancing their technical skills and sharing your domain knowledge to uplift the team's overall capabilities.
Strive for a balance between implementing strategic enhancements and ensuring consistent, sustainable software delivery that meets quality standards.
Engage in code reviews and contribute to the establishment of best practices within the team to maintain high-quality engineering standards.
Participate in agile ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups to ensure effective project management and team cohesion.
Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating relevant advancements into the team's workflow and product development strategies.
Requirements
Significant skilled experience in C# and modern.NET frameworks, demonstrating a deep understanding of these technologies.
A proven track record of designing secure, scalable, and resilient systems while effectively managing technical trade-offs to meet project requirements.
A strong commitment to high-quality engineering practices, including the implementation of unit testing and thorough code reviews to ensure code integrity.
Experience working within agile development environments, showcasing adaptability and a willingness to learn new technologies as needed.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Nice to have
Familiarity with cloud technologies and services, particularly in relation to database management and performance monitoring.
Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices to streamline development workflows.
Knowledge of front-end technologies and frameworks, which can enhance collaboration with front-end developers.
Previous experience in a mentoring or leadership role within a software engineering context.
Understanding of database management systems and performance tuning techniques.

Proficient in C# and.NET technologies
Familiar with agile methodologies and practices
Experience with Claude AI, provided for daily use to enhance productivity and collaboration

This position is hybrid, requiring you to be present at the Cambridge office once every two weeks to foster team collaboration and engagement.
