About the Role
We are seeking an experienced
FRP (Fibre Reinforced Plastic) Plug Maker & Mould Repair Technician
to join our production team in
Dandenong South
. In this role, you will build high-precision plugs and patterns for our
Fibreglass Refrigerated Semi-Trailers
. You will also be responsible for maintaining, modifying, and repairing existing production moulds to ensure seamless manufacturing quality and thermal efficiency.
Hours of Work
Enjoy a structured, consistent schedule with excellent earning potential through regular Friday overtime:
Monday to Thursday
: 7:00 am – 5:00 pm (Standard Hours)
Key Responsibilities
Plug Construction
: Build trailer component plugs from scratch using timber, MDF, foam, and composite materials.
Mould Repair & Maintenance
: Inspect, patch, re-gel, and structurally repair existing composite production moulds to fix surface wear.
Blueprint Reading
: Interpret 2D engineering drawings and 3D designs for transport equipment bodies and panels.
Finishing
: Apply, sand,



and polish body fillers, primers, and tooling gelcoats to a flawless, high-gloss finish.
Quality Control
: Ensure all plugs and moulds meet strict dimensional tolerances required for heavy transport manufacturing.
Skills and Experience
Industry Experience
: Proven track record in FRP plug making, pattern making, or advanced composite fabrications.
Mould Repair Expertise
: Strong background in laminating, glassing, cosmetic gelcoat repair, and mould rectification.
Material Competency
: Deep understanding of composite materials, resins, catalysts, and release agents.
Precision
: High level of hand-eye coordination with a sharp eye for identifying and eliminating surface defects.
Resin infusion and RTM light experience an advantage
