Mayday Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Chair to lead our Board through the next stage of growth.
Since launching in ****, MAYDAY has grown into a multi-brand recruitment business operating across New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria. With specialist divisions spanning Recruitment, Healthcare and Technology, we have built a reputation for exceptional service, strong client partnerships and a people-first culture.
As we continue to evolve, we are looking for an independent Chair who can provide strategic leadership, robust governance and the confidence to challenge and support our Board and executive team.
About the Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished business leader who enjoys working with founder-led organisations and understands the balance between governance, growth and culture.
As Chair, you will facilitate an engaged and high-performing Board, ensuring effective decision-making while providing guidance and mentorship to the Directors and CEO. You will bring an independent perspective, encourage healthy debate and help position the business for long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and facilitate Board meetings, ensuring productive discussion and sound decision-making.
Provide strategic oversight and governance across the Group.
Support and challenge the executive leadership team while maintaining appropriate independence.
Foster a collaborative and high-performing Board culture.
Ensure robust governance,
risk management and compliance practices.
Guide long-term strategy, business performance and sustainable growth.
Act as a trusted adviser to the Directors and CEO.
Assist with succession planning and Board development.
Represent the organisation where appropriate with key stakeholders.
About You
Previous Board or Chair experience.
Strong governance knowledge and strategic thinking.
Experience working with privately owned or founder-led businesses.
Excellent communication, facilitation and influencing skills.
High levels of integrity, independence and sound judgement.
The confidence to ask challenging questions while building trusted relationships.
Experience in recruitment, professional services, healthcare, technology or other service-based industries would be highly regarded.

Appointment Details
Independent Chair of the Board.
Board meetings are held every two months, with occasional strategic planning sessions or ad hoc meetings as required.
Expected commitment of approximately 6-8 days per year.
Remuneration will be negotiated based on experience.
