Network Engineer
Green Light is a growing consulting organisation known for its work in Telecommunications andSystem Integration Services organisations. We have a requirement with our client partner for Network Engineer to join their team on a 12-month assignment
Responsibilities
Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the existing IP network (firewalls, routers, switches) remotely and on-site across Motorola's product portfolio and customer contracts.
Make configuration changes on network devices as required (Juniper/Cisco/FortiGate/Palo Alto).
Lead and support project teams for new network deployments, upgrades and migrations.
Provide design, implementation and operational support for Microsoft Azure networking services, including Virtual Networks, subnets, NSGs, route tables, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute, Azure Firewall and Private Link.
Support hybrid cloud network connectivity between on-premises environments and Azure, including secure routing, BGP, firewall integration, DNS and controlled ingress/egress patterns.
Perform upgrades on network devices (remote/onsite) and contribute to detailed network designs, standards and implementation plans.
Prepare, review and maintain network diagrams, as-built documentation, configuration records and operational procedures.
Interact with a wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders, including customers, subcontractors and internal delivery teams.
Solve complex design and application problems that affect data flow between applications and user devices.
Act as a escalation point for the NSOC, Operations/Field Engineers and other technical teams when necessary.




Mentor and guide engineers on network troubleshooting, implementation quality, change control and operational best practice.
Perform other ad hoc IT-related tasks, including cabling and installation of devices/servers where required.
Follow work instructions, procedures and policies.
Develop, implement and maintain procedures to measure and track service performance/quality.
Log change requests and incidents as requested in Remedy / Service Now.
Undertake ad hoc interstate travel as required to support other managed services networks.
Provide operational support for production network environments, including incident response, fault isolation, service restoration, and post-incident review activities
Desirable
Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering or equivalent experience.
10+ years of hands-on network engineering experience with Juniper SRX, Palo Alto, FortiGate and Cisco technologies in mission-critical environments.
Practical experience with Microsoft Azure networking in production or hybrid environments, including Azure Virtual Network, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute, NSGs, route tables, Azure Firewall and Private Endpoints/Private Link.
Robust understanding of hybrid cloud network architecture, including hub-and-spoke topology, segmentation, BGP routing, secure connectivity and integration with enterprise firewalls such as Palo Alto, FortiGate,



Juniper SRX and Cisco.
Experience troubleshooting Azure connectivity, routing, latency, DNS, firewall policies, NSG rules and network security controls using tools such as Azure Network Watcher, Connection Monitor, Azure Monitor and Log Analytics
Demonstrated ability to lead complex network troubleshooting, design reviews, implementations, upgrades and operational improvements.
Advanced working knowledge of routing protocols, switching and tunnelling technologies (OSPF/BGP/IPSec/RSTP) and MPLS technologies.
Strong understanding of firewall concepts, policy design, segmentation, high availability, VPNs and secure network operations.
Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and practical application of security controls in enterprise and mission-critical networks.
Knowledge of Cisco Catalyst 8K and 9K series, Juniper SRX, Palo Alto and FortiGate firewalls.
Administration, configuration, fault finding and maintenance of LAN, WAN, routers, switches, servers, workstations and applications.
Virtualisation knowledge and ability to troubleshoot network connectivity across virtualised and hybrid environments.
Experience using automation and scripting to improve operational efficiency, configuration consistency and repeatability.
Proven experience with customer engagement at a technical level, including troubleshooting discussions, solution delivery, stakeholder communication and technical leadership.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.
Effective time management skills with ability to prioritise, multitask and meet deadlines.
Strong ability to communicate technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
