Role Overview
An experienced Leading Hand Fitter is required to support maintenance operations at Appin Mine.
This role provides hands‐on leadership, overseeing a team of fitters while ensuring safe, efficient maintenance of underground mobile equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise a team of underground fitters on shift
Carry out maintenance, servicing, and repairs on heavy mobile mining equipment
Coordinate planned maintenance and breakdown response activities
Diagnose faults and ensure timely, quality repairs
Allocate work tasks and monitor team performance
Ensure all work is completed in line with site and statutory requirements
Complete maintenance reports, work orders, and documentation
Maintain high housekeeping standards and workshop organisation




Liaise with supervisors and operations to minimise downtime
Promote solid safety culture and adherence to procedures
Requirements
Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel or Mobile Plant (essential)
Extensive experience maintaining underground mining equipment
Previous Leading Hand or supervisory experience
Strong diagnostic and fault‐finding skills
Ability to lead teams in a fast‐paced mining environment
Strong commitment to safety and compliance
Valid driver's licence
Ability to work rotating rosters (e.g. 5/2 or site‐specific)
