About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane has an exciting opportunity for aSenior Administration Officerto join ourWard & Inpatient Servicesteam in apermanent part-time (16 hours per week)capacity.
Based at ourSouth Brisbanecampus, this position provides experienced administrative support across multiple inpatient ward areas, ensuring seamless service delivery where it's needed most.
Supporting one of Queensland's leading tertiary hospitals, you'll play an integral role in maintaining patient flow, supporting frontline clinical teams and ensuring continuity during planned and unplanned leave, vacancies, onboarding and periods of increased demand.
Your work will directly contribute to the exceptional care Mater has been delivering to the Brisbane community for more than 100 years.
Mater Hospital Brisbane is home to a 24-hour Adult Emergency Department, intensive and coronary care, medical, surgical and cancer services, with inpatient wards supporting a broad range of specialties and complex patient care.
Salary range: $***** - $***** per hourplus superannuationandaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900+access to many staff benefits!
What you'll be doing
As a valued member of our Wards & Inpatient Administration Services team, you'll provide adaptable, high-quality administrative support across a range of inpatient wards, day procedure and endoscopy units helping ensure smooth day-to-day operations and an exceptional experience for patients, visitors and staff.
You will:
Provide administration support across multiple Ward & Inpatient Services teams
Support patient admissions, discharges, bookings and ward reception activities
Assist with recruitment administration, onboarding and training coordination for new team members
Support rostering activities, leave management and workforce administration
Maintain accurate records, data quality and document management
Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas and record minutes where required
Assist with purchasing, inventory management and other operational administration tasks
Identify opportunities to improve workflows, operational efficiency and service delivery
Work collaboratively with Nurse Unit Managers, Administration Coordinators and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent administrative coverage across services
About you
You're an experienced healthcare administrator who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment and can confidently adapt to supporting different teams while delivering outstanding customer service.
You will bring:
Previous administration experience within a hospital or healthcare environment
Demonstrated ability to work across multiple teams and manage competing priorities
Experience supporting recruitment, rostering or workforce administration is highly regarded
Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a patient-centred approach
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills and experience using health information systems
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively while using initiative and sound judgement
A proactive, flexible and solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement
A qualification in Business Administration (or similar) will be highly regarded
